BSA Hercules Cyclothon Bengaluru 2009 on Oct 11th

Its not only running which is really taking off in India, Cycling is not far behind. There are now many established cycling events in India, including the Himachal MTB (Sep 26 – Oct 6, 2009), the Tour of Nilgiris (Dec 15 – Dec 23, 2009), and then the recently organized and very successful BSA Hercules Duathlon in Bangalore, so its not a surprise to see more new cycling events being added to the roster.

The BSA Hercules Cyclothon takes place in Bangalore on Oct 11th. Following categories will be there in the event:
  • Elite Ride – 50KM : For professional riders
  • Amateur Ride – 50KM : For aspiring cyclists
  • Teen Ride – 5KM : 13-17 years age group
  • Fun Ride – 2KM : For kids, 8-12 years
  • Green Ride – 25KM : for the environment
  • Corporate Team Ride – 25KM : 
  • The 10K – another aspiring cyclist run

    Bengaluru is a foremost cycle friendly city with its pleasant climate, encourages experiencing outdoors. Inviting all Bangaloreans to enjoy the spirit of cycling, the BSA Hercules Cyclothon Bengaluru 09 promises to change the pulse of the city to promote cycling. The BSA Hercules Cyclothon offers a great opportunity to all cycling enthusiasts from Bangalore and around the country. The event is expected to attract over 7000 cycling enthusiasts from Bangalore and other cities.

    The race will be flagged-off from Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) and will proceed through the length of the NICE Corridor and finally move on to Bannerghatta to conclude at BIEC. For those enthusiastic participants from outside Bangalore who would like to take part in the BSA Hercules Cyclothon, TI Cycles of India will be renting around 1500 bicycles on a first come – first serve basis.

    The registration forms for the race are available at several outlets across the city. The forms are also available online at http://BSAherculescyclothon.in.com. The registration fee is Rs.120 for the elite and amateur race, for corporate team race Rs.170, Teens Ride at Rs. 120 and fun ride at Rs. 170 and Green Ride at Rs. 120

    As ADHM 2009 approaches, Delhi gets running!

    It is just about 10 days to go for the launch of the 5th Airtel Delhi Half Marathon in the media. The event launch is to take place on August 27th, and the run is on Nov 1st. The registrations to the event will start immediately after the event launch.

    Keeping up with the spirit of the marathon, a couple of events are coming up in Delhi. Both the events are amateur in nature, organized for runners/bikers by runners/bikers, kind of running/biking community get together. Incidentally, the venue for both the events is the most popular running location in Delhi … Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri.

    1. Delhi Duathlon – Aug 23rd (Sun)

      Time: 5:45 am
      Run (2.75K) – Cycle (16K) – Run (2.75K) format

    2. 1st Delhi Runners (DR) Half Marathon – Aug 29th (Sat)

      Time: 5:45 am
      Run: 21K

    Bangalore Duathlon on June 14, 2009

    Runners for Life is organizing the first ever of its kind event in India on June 14th. The event will be held in Bangalore, and will include a running and a cycling leg.

    Following runs are part of the event:

    • 10K running + 20K cycling
    • 5K running + 10K cycling
