Bangalore 10K dates changed to May 10th

Update (Mar 26): Its confirmed. Event is on May 31st. Online registrations have started.

Looks like a lot of dates are being changed as a result of the elections schedule, including the Indian Premier League cricket matches, to avoid clash with the election dates.

I wonder what has prompted the change in dates for the Bangalore 10K run to May 10th (from the earlier published date of May 17th). I noticed that Karnataka elections are scheduled for Apr 23th, 30th, so there is still a lot of breathing space.

The registrations are yet to start, and will probably go live in another 2 weeks. Pretty late compared to the way things went last year.

Strangely, with TOI as the title partner for the event, there seems to be no news on the run even in the Bangalore TOI edition for Jan 12th. I checked the ePaper, and nothing there. I doubt if the results would actually appear on the official website http://www.toimidnightmarathon.in/ anytime soon in the future.

Results of Bangalore Ultra 2008

Well, the results are not yet posted on the website, so while we wait, I have posted a few reviews of the event. For the record, Santhosh from “Team Asha” ran 156KM in 24 hours, Shumit did 100KM after deciding on Wednesday that he will do the 100K. Doctor Rajat did 87.5KM before going on to help other runners!

315 runners took part in the 2008 event. Some reviews for the event from fellow bloggers after the run:

Bangalore Ultra on Nov 16th

India’s only ultra running event is coming back for its second run.

http://bangaloreultra.com

This time around, the events are 25K, 50K, 75K, and for the first time, 100K. I just checked up the website, and the number of registered participants till date are (figures in brackets indicate participation in 2007 run):

25K: 189 (151)
50K: 78 (71)
75K: 18 (16)
100K: 4 (1)
Unknown distance: 27

It looks like the participation figure is not too different from that of last year, though higher. It is always fun to follow special runs of these kinds in India.

It is worth mentioning the names of the 100K runners, since it is such a rare breed:

Jacob Boopalan (2007 78K winner)
Mukesh Singh (2007 78K 1st runner)
Rajat Chauhan (the only 2007 100K runner)
Ravi Kaklaskaria

Hats off to these guys, and best of luck.

Update: 315 runners took part in the 2008 event. Some reviews for the event from fellow bloggers after the run:
