April 5th was the day which led racing pundits to declare that a new era was starting in distance running. Old records were broken, new created, fastest marathons run at Paris and Rotterdam. Times which till yesterday were thought to be sacrosanct became commonplace. It was really a coming up to age for the new breed of marathon runners.
